Description
Dear ____________________,
I cannot believe the incompetence. The count now stands at 35 heritage Valley Oaks mistakenly removed from our gorgeous City Park, the jewel of Anytown.
The city's Public Works Director has apologized for the "supervisory failure" that led to this tragic error in cutting down these healthy trees, and the City Council has dedicated $15,000 to plant new trees as a "mitigation measure." That will be great in 50 to 75 years.
These trees took decades to grow, and they were felled in an afternoon by crews armed with chainsaws and misinformation.
I would like to know what is being doing to prevent something like this from happening in the future. What procedures will be changed? Who will be held accountable, from city leaders all the way down to outside contractors? What new training and educational programs have been set up? Will additional arborists be hired?
Something needs to change. Our beautiful "City of Trees" deserves better than this.
